Unicorn Haven opened its doors in 2017 and has been providing social cognition groups to children and adults who struggle with social skills and social communication. All of our social cognition groups use the Social Thinking® curriculum. For research on this methodology visit www.socialthinking.com to find out more. The methodology addresses a lot of important concepts, such as being part of a group, whole body listening, flexible thinking, hidden rules, expected vs. unexpected behaviors, thinking with your eyes, thinking thoughts and feeling feelings, thinking about others vs. just myself, understanding different perspectives, size of my problem vs. size of my reaction, identifying triggers and finding tools for calming, emotional regulation,..etc.
Job Overview:
Possession of a valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (certified); or a school counselor, licensed counselor, certified CBT therapist, certified social work counselor or a speech therapist

Job Overview:
- Provide direct services and small group instruction (6 students independently)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Social Thinking ® methodology, with some understanding of CBT, and Mindfulness
- Maintain high expectations for student success and conduct
- Able to implement engaging and rigorous instruction to ensure all students have a clear understanding of the Social Thinking ® curriculum
- Be able to complete an informal assessments to identify needs and measure student growth
- Communicate frequently with parents
- Build strong relationships with students, and families
- Be flexible and adapt with the needs of the students
